We are pleased to announce we are reviving DO40’s outreach programming, renaming it The Legacy Project - Broadway and Beyond. The focus of the Legacy Project is to disseminate the history, knowledge and experience of our eclectically talented membership to today’s generation of dancers about to begin their journey. In keeping with our mission statement, we are very pleased to advance our goal in this way. DO40 will be collaborating and co-producing personalized artist-in-residence type programs with varied institutions and organizations. Each Legacy event will be based upon the artistic needs of the establishment, the financial resources available, and will be designed in collaboration with the expertise, talents and availability of our members. Our first event has taken place and was a big hit!! Penny Worth and Carolyn Kirsch, the original Roxie and Velma in the first Broadway tour of CHICAGO, led a musical theater workshop, performed and spoke about their extensive careers at Calvert High School in Maryland Sept.17th.

Committee members include Mary Lou Barber, Harvey Evans, Lawrence Merritt, John Sefakis and Penny Worth. Special thanks to new DO40 member Ron Saunders, who heads the theater program at Calvert High School in Maryland. DO40 Members Carolyn Kirsch and Penny Worth represent, perform and do a workshop for the students at Calvert High School in Prince Frederick Maryland September 17, 2011 OUR MISSION STATEMENT Dancers Over 40 was created as a not-for-profit organization to provide a community of support in response to the needs of mature dancers, choreographers and related artists. Our goals include seeking educational opportunities, presenting seminars and panel discussions and social events geared to topics relevant to mature dancers, whose present-day concerns are focused on their ability to continue to live and work in a creative environment, and continue the legacy to the younger generation about to begin their journey. OUR HISTORY, OUR LEGACY, OUR LIVES Our members have had experiences that enriched their lives, educated – and entertained – audiences all over the world. Now a new generation will learn directly from the people who were there, worked with the greats, and have the stories – and battle scars -- to prove it! An unbelievable treasure trove of information that IS Dancers Over 40!
